Eldorado is above all a Romanesque literary work on the burning topic of emigration. Starting from their countries of origin, we follow the sagas of those who, at great personal risk, have left their homes in an attempt to reach the promised land. Weaving the destinies of this multitude of migrants who are confronted with the impenetrability of the citadel Europe, Laurent Gaudé anchors his text in a crisis that for more than ten years has continued to gain momentum. Raising the characters who embody this confrontation to the rank of icons, of mythological figures of a contemporary tragedy, this text echoes within us like a deafening cry of anger and despair.

Eldorado is a creation of the Théâtre Spirale, directed by Patrick Mohr, and based on the novel by Laurent Gaudé. For twenty-five years, the Théâtre Spirale has consistently worked on the theme of migration with actors, storytellers, dancers and musicians from here and elsewhere.
